There are many miracles noted in the Bible. Did you realize that Jesus gave us directions on how to perform our own miracles of healing, success, obedience and sharing? We make so much of Bible interpretation and how mysterious and complicated it is. If we accept the fact that the Bible is the God inspired written word, we must also accept the fact that it is we that make understanding it so difficult- not God.
We read around things, we look for hidden meanings, we add things that are not there and subtract things that make us uncomfortable or do not fit our conception of God and his instructions. The Bible is not a technical science manual, not designed to be modified or designed so that only a highly educated scholar can interpret what is in it. It was written for us! It was meant as an inspirational, instructional guide to Successful Living, Joy, Peace, Love and comfort. Of course it mentions consequences, both good and bad for the choices we make in life. I am not condoning fanaticism of any kind when I make the statement "To understand the Bible you can't just read it and /or study it you must live it!"
Let me share with you one instance of where we seek too little of what Jesus discloses in his life and teachings.
In the Bible Jesus is teaching to a mass of people on a mountain (miracle of feeding the 5000) there are many more than five thousand people there because only the men are noted. Many of us stop looking at what is taught when the people are fed. We say "What an amazing thing!" We stop seeking and reading and learning to soon. After everyone has eaten besides his disciples, Jesus says "Gather up the fragments so nothing shall be lost!" He had just given everyone present and everyone that will read these words in the future the key to successful living, both in the physical life and the spiritual. "Gather up the fragments" is what he said. The miracle that happened that day wasn't in just the feeding of so many at that time, but the method of how we can be our own caretakers for our own lives and for others throughout the ages.
Now what do we do with this information? Are we going to dissect it, read things into it that are not there or modify it to fit our own personal comfort zones? Please do with it what was intended. Live it as it is stated. Notice Jesus doesn't specifically tell us what to do with these fragments after we gather them up. He just tells his followers to perform the task. What we do with them is left up to other teachings and our hearts. He doesn't tell us to horde them all, obviously if he tells us to gather them there is a use for them.
Let me also share this, when these things became fragments they became burdens because they were leftover things that we did not take the time to deal with. They are blessings. And as with blessings if they are not used and shared they wither and die and instead of being blessings they become burdens.
If your life lacks blessings it is because they have become fragments of the whole. So let us gather them up and use them in some way that creates blessings either for us or others.
